Jury members look at each page of each title sample for faults like the one above. Each has a point graduation that is then deducted from the general rate achieved. It may seem an easy task but to spend a day looking at newspaper pages requires a lot of concentration and focus.

The jury is already on its second day of quality checking. On the very first day of deliberations, 38 titles out of the 160 participants, were checked and marked for quality. Considering that the jury was just starting their work it was a good number of titles. During the second day they should go well above 40 titles. The boxes, seen in the picture, contain the titles still to be checked.

At this stage of the competition, jury members will be filling a form like the one above for each sample. These forms contain all faults and marks that can be found on the newspaper and how it can evaluate the quality of each as delivered to the readers. Not a simple task as it may seen as it will require the experience and attentive eye of each jury member during many hours of viewing and analysing.
