At the Freie Presse in Chemnitz plate production is done on Kodak New Generation thermal CTP imaging systems. After punching and bending on a Nela VCP system, the plates are taken (with PlateFlow control) via conveyor belts and a lift directly to the printing towers, where they are fed into sorting stackers. An operator arranges the plates in racks in the printing unit, ready for the APL robot that removes them from the rack and mounts them on the plate cylinder.
