Product development

Vizrt, the company that acquired Escenic in 2008, has a strong background in the TV and radio business. The combined forces of Escenic and Vizrt now means that publishers are offered new tools for online, mobile and print publishing.

The philosophy of the companies' solutions is to give editors as much control handling and distributing rich media content as necessary without making it too complicated.

Animated graphics templates can be stored in a designated template folder. When selecting the content type “Graphic” on the Escenic Content Studio user interface, the editor can then reuse and redesign existing graphic templates on the fly. Live graphics with updated content can be generated for the web.

The new version also allows easy video editing, from simple in- and out-editing within the system up to the integration of Final Cut (Mac), Premiere or other video editing software for more sophisticated alterations. Interactive maps can be generated in the same simple way.

Escenic has also been very active in developing new community tools. Examples can be found at Bergens Tidende and other Norwegian publishing houses which have teamed up to create a football community. NDC in the Netherlands is another customer that uses the system to build local and regional communities around specific topics, from pets to cooking. Such communities offer the potential to expand the advertiser base and enlarge online ad inventory.

With the Football World Cup 2010 not far off, these types of community solutions are ideal to help capture the enthusiasm such an event. Through its partnership with Mobiletech, a specialist mobile provider, Escenic now offers solutions for mobile directly from the user interface. An interesting implementation can be found at Aftonbladet in Sweden.
