The new COMYAN iPad edition is a real touch-based digital newspaper app with page animation, tap-to-open, formatted individual articles (not just page zooming), offline reading and a user interface that puts the newspaper itself in the center.
Instead of being overloaded with buttons, it enables a clean, comfortable navigation within your content and the best possible formatting of the articles themselves.
The content is usually processed automatically (for several editorial systems fully automatically) using our successful NewsBench newspaper content processing framework.
COMYAN has been developing digital editions since 1993, starting with an automatically processed edition for the Blind and visually handicapped. Moving to the Web, the PDA (1998), mobile phone, eBook (2000) and ePaper, COMYAN has rich expertise in all kinds of devices and has integrated the system with already 12 different editorial systems from various vendors (visit our website for a full list). Even if your vendor is not yet on the list, the framework enables quick integration, as has been shown in many occasions.
- How can I make money from implementing your solution?
Usually, the digital editions processed with our system are sold by the publisher - never free of charge. NZZglobal, for instance, signed up 3.000 paying subscribers for the ePaper in the first couple of years, later extending this to 10.000 (10% of print).
- How can I monitor and measure the effect of your services?
By selling the subscriptions and number of daily downloads.
- How can I integrate your solution into existing editorial, advertising and CRM systems?
Using our unique NewsBench framework, which has been developed exactly for that purpose since 1993. It has been integrated with Alfa, ATEX Hermes, ATEX Prestige, InDesign, JJK, Multicom, NewsNT, PPI, Protec, QPS, Quark, and K4 and is in operation at leading quality newspapers in five countries.
- What is your business model and the price range of your solutions?
COMYAN sells a perpetual license for the processing and publishing system plus a yearly maintenance contract. Prices are very attractive for publishers of all sizes (price depends on circulation).
- Which reference customers do you have in the publishing sector?
Digital Editions: NZZ, Der Standard, Dumont-Schauberg (Kölner Stadtanzeiger, Rundschau, Mitteldeutsche Zeitung), Frankfurter Rundschau, Böblinger Kreisbote. For digital asset management: Times of India, Die Presse, Kleine Zeitung, Gulf News, Tagblatt St. Gallen
