Méthode is EidosMedia's innovative editorial platform. Beside feeding editorial from a common content store to traditional publishing formats (newspapers and magazines, syndication), the solution, thanks to its channel neutral approach based on XML, feeds e-channels (web, mobile, tablet devices, etc.) as well, without the need for repurposing or revision. Content delivery to devices like the iPhone and the iPad is therefore available directly from Méthode’s platform.

The Méthode iPhone Application is a platform extension for channeling content from an existing Méthode workflow to the Apple iPhone. It allows publishers to create and operate a branded iPhone application, without undergoing the expense of in-house application development. It consists of an automated publication process that tailors editorial content to the format and functions of the Apple device, combined with a customizable ‘app’ to be downloaded by readers. The Méthode iPhone extension can be configured to implement a number of payment models.

The iPad Authoring Environment as well is an extension to the Méthode publishing platform allowing content from a standard Méthode workflow to be prepared, previewed and delivered to tablet devices, such as the Apple iPad. The Authoring Environment makes use of the same page design and typographic functions used by Méthode in the print channel to create rich page layouts for tablet formats. Méthode’s Web functionalities are then used to add interactivity, multimedia and social media functions to the published pages.
This approach moves beyond the simple tablet ‘app’ to provide greater flexibility in managing and updating publications for the iPad. By reconfiguring the styles and templates used to generate an iPad edition, publishers can completely change its look and feel, or even create an entirely new product.
