Vidar Meisingseth is Project Manager of Verdens Gang, better known as VG, Norway's largest daily newspaper. This is Meisingseth's fourth journalistic conference, but his first one in India. "We're just here as exhibitors," he says.

Amazed at India's "fast-growing expansion," Meisingseth hopes to gain some innovative ideas that he can carry back to enhance VG's operations.

Jaideep Karnik, resident editor of The NaiDunia Media PVT. LTD., finds that there's good and bad in both print and non-print media. Alongside his newspaper, he also manages an e-paper, but says his loyal readers prefer their newspapers tangible. 

"Since the literacy rates have gone up in India, the newspaper sales have been increasing," says Karnik.

At The Conference: Registration Begins

The registration for the WAN-IFRA 2009 World Newspaper Congress - World Editors Forum began at noon Monday.

To ease registration traffic, conference badges were sent to the hotels of participants if their hotel was known, Poland native, Anna Kwawczyk, information director, said.

Participants register at the actual conference if their hotel was unknown, she said.

Stephen Nilan, Vice President of Marketing for Digital Technology International Ltd., registered for the WAN-WEF Conference this afternoon. Registration began at noon today with the upcoming roundtables beginning at 2 pm. Nilan is registered as a exposant on the WAN Congress side.
