Digital Asset Management

In the March/April 2010 issue of WAN-IFRA Magazine, we feature an article on Digital Asset Management (DAM) on pages 26-29. As there are numerous suppliers in this area and we have limited space in print, we could only publish a small portion of what each told us about their soltion. Here, we are publishing expanded interviews with the vendors for readers to get a fuller picutre of what each told us about their offering.

Answering for CID is Alexander Stumpfegger, Head of Sales.

WAN-IFRA: What are the strengths of your DAM solution for news publishers?

Alexander Stumpfegger: Today news publishers find themselves in the situation where no longer the availability of information is a problem, but its amount, which has to be screened, managed and articles to be published in time.

CID provides an innovative, flexible information management & information processing solution for editors easing the traditional editorial process significantly through a number of features, including:

  • Automatic aggregation of journalistic-relevant topics from archives, press feeds, social communities and the World Wide Web as well as an early detection of news trends
  • Filtering out of non-relevant data and automatic linking of relevant data
  • Speeding up of the research process in internal and external information sources for example through web-crawling
  • Automation of editorial publication processes & advertisement targeting
  • Semantic content middle ware using scientific algorithms (Artificial Intelligence) for Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Ontologies
  • Content Syndication
  • Activation of "Long Tail"-Content & Cross marketing
  • Behavioural User Targeting
  • Reduction of process costs

WAN-IFRA: Is it easy to integrate your system with editorial solutions from other suppliers?

Stumpfegger: Yes of course. Our software can be integrated in all already existing editorial publications and archive systems. Therefore editorial employees can continue using their applications however enriched with the semantic technology.

WAN-IFRA: Once the contract has been signed, approximately how long does it take for a publishing client to begin working with your solution?

Stumpfegger: Due to our flexible solution framework, our competency in software solutions and semantic technology as well as our dynamic project approach and efficient answering of client’s requirements we guarantee the best possible and most time efficient projects.

WAN-IFRA: How much training is required for a publication's staff to start using your solution?

Stumpfegger: In addition to the fact that our entire solution framework can be integrated in the already existing client’s applications, the client’s technical staff can be also part of the project team. Therefore, if any, only few training hours will be required. In this case we offer the training as part of our service package.

WAN-IFRA: Approximately how many titles are using your solution globally? What are a few of the titles using your solution?

Stumpfegger: We are working for leading media enterprises in Europe. References are available on demand.

WAN-IFRA: What developments are you working on in this area now – any planned updates for the near future?

Stumpfegger: Our innovative technology and solution framework is characterized by a continuous development. The “Pattern Science AG” our subsidiary company has the direct contact and link to scientific research by universities in Europe.
