Two words resonated throughout the week in Hyderabad, site of the World Newspaper Congress and World Editors Forum: search and innovation. Amid sobering forecasts and figures from the World Press Trends and other reports, the search for new business models is heating up, especially on the paid content front. Clearly, the debate about how to resolve search giant Google’s approach to copyright is reaching a boiling point. And while the heat is on the industry to innovate for the future, innovation in all forms was on display in Hyderabad. An encouraging sign.
